Selma Mujovic was elected President of Collective Work of
Sisters in 2025, following two years of dedicated service to
the organization, its clients, and various New York
communities.
Selma brings extensive executive
experience to her new role, having held administrative
positions in diverse companies and religious institutions.
She has a proven track record of managing operations
departments and clerical staff, developing efficient office
management concepts, and fostering high-performance
teams.
Driven by her passion for culture and
community service, especially within the Muslim community,
Selma is a skilled linguist proficient in English, Serbian,
Bosnian, Albanian, and Arabic. Her leadership and vision are
now poised to guide Collective Work of Sisters in achieving
its goals and fulfilling its mission.
In 2016, Zara Kandic began the effort of founding Collective Work of Sisters. For seven years she worked tirelessly to establish spaces for women to support one another. For nearly 23 years, she has utilized her skills in administrative coordination, community engagement, and communication to lead teams, manage events, and foster inclusive spaces for women. Her fluency in Bosnian, Serbian, and English allows people of diverse backgrounds to find solace in her aid and support while feeling comfortable in their own identities. Zara has been a dedicated leader serving multiple communities across the New York City area in professional catering, hospitality, and nonprofit organizations.
Amela Mustafalic, a devoted wife and mother of four, brought her rich Montenegrin heritage and nurturing spirit to the United States as first generation immigrant. Now, she channels her considerable organizational skills and passion for community into her role as an administrative board member for Collective Work of Sisters. She has been dedicated to building sisterhood in various communities since 2016. Amela's unique perspective, shaped by her experiences as a homemaker and her journey to a new country, deeply enriches the organization's mission to foster connection and support among women.
JB Abdul-Majid was born in Cleveland, Ohio but has been a member of the New York community for over 20 years. In 2023 JB founded The Sharaka Collaborative Society. A nonprofit organization that empowers ALL people to live their most exceptional lives through strategic partnerships. She has been a teacher in the public, private, parochial, and charter school sectors for more than 18 years and has worked with every developmental group from birth to college including those with special needs. The passion JB has for education and serving God through service to His creation is what has brought her to the Collective Work of Sisters.
Adama Bah came to the United States from Guinea in West Africa at the age of two years old. She has extensive experience working with different communities and organizations including Harlem Children’s Zone, Inc., The Legal Aid Society of New York, and Bellevue Pediatrics Reading Project, East Harlem Democratic Club, and the NYCHA Tenant Resident Board. In addition to her charitable heart, Adama has demonstrated courage on her behalf as well as that of many others by sharing her life publicly as it relates to undocumented legal status, being a mother, and standing for the rights and concerns of everyday citizens in their endeavours for freedom, equity, peace, and justice. She is prepared to bring her talent and vigor to a team that shares her goals and desire to leave the world better than they found it.
